No-oil Coconut Flax seeds Chutney


The age old flax seeds are back in trend these days due to its exceptionally high nutritional value. These tiny seeds are one of the ancient super foods. Studies say that consuming them in the right way could help improve digestion, give clear skin, lower cholesterol, balance hormones, fight cancer and promote weight loss. These brown colored seeds are the richest sources of plant based omega-3 fatty acids. Moreover, flax seeds are gluten-free. Ensure that these seeds are chewed properly; else they can go undigested, and flushed out of the system. So, it is always better to use this in a ground form to get the maximum benefits.


Here is a simple and quick coconut chutney with flax seeds to go well with your ildly, dosa, and many more. Enjoy your breakfast with a healthy twist. Please note that this is a no-oil coconut flax seeds chutney.


Ingredients
½ medium coconut (chopped/ grated)
2 tbsp flax seeds
3 green chilies
2 garlic cloves
½ tsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste

Method
  • Dry roast chopped garlic, and green chili for half a minute. Add cumin, and flax seeds to sauté for half a minute.
  • Combine the above with coconut, and salt; and grind to make chutney adding sufficient water.
  • Tempering is optional.
