Home-made pizza keeps you away from the guilt of eating something unhealthy. You can control the use of all-purpose flour, cheese etc. and also play around with your favorite toppings and seasonings. I made pizzas using all-purpose flour earlier, but this time I thought why not make it a little healthier by adding some whole wheat flour. Obviously, the texture changes a bit, but who cares, we want the best for ourselves keeping the health quotient in mind.
So, this is the result from the hot oven. Is that not yummy?? I love the cheese strings while separating the slices.
I do not have the pizza stone, and so used the regular baking sheet. Ensure you preheat the tray along with the oven.
Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 cups of all purpose flour
2 cups of all purpose flour

1 packet yeast

1 tsp sugar
2+1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
1 1/3 cups of warm water
1 packet yeast

Veggies of your choice (I used onions, bell peppers and black olives)
Fresh Mozzarella, shredded

Method
- Add the yeast, sugar to 1/3 cup of warm water, mix it and set aside. This makes the yeast activated.
- In a large bowl, add the flours, salt, 2 tbsp olive oil, yeast water, and little by little water. While pouring, mix the ingredients to form a dough
- Bring the dough on to a floured surface and knead it until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
- Put the dough in a floured bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel and leave it for at least 2 hours in warm place until the dough is doubled in size.
- To make the sauce, add 1 tbsp oil in small pan, add chopped garlic. Let the oil is infused with garlic, saute for a while, add chopped tomatoes. Let it turn soft, add tomato puree, mix well. Add the seasonings and set aside.
- To make the pizza, preheat the oven and the tray (place the tray in the oven upside down so there are no edges) at 245degrees.
- Sprinkle some flour onto your counter, take the ball of dough and dredge it in the flour on all sides. Using your hands or a rolling pin, roll the dough out to a circle.
- Using a ladle add the sauce and using the back of the ladle swirl it all over the top of the dough.Top it with veggies and shredded cheese and slide it onto the baking tray(upside down). Cook for 20 minutes, rotating half way through to insure even cooking.
NOTE - The dough ball can be frozen, just thaw before using. .
Making pizza is little time consuming, but not difficult at all. The satisfaction you get after seeing your own pizza is something incomparable. Make it once and I bet you would want to frequent it.
